Not a substitute for a cage.

I bought my daughters for a rabbit. It is convenient for the rabbit to jump and play in it to avoid jumping around the house. I would recommend laying out a puppy mat when he's around. The bottom of what I have is waterproof, but it's a lot easier to clean when there's a pad in it. Note that this is not a cage and I wouldn't recommend leaving it there permanently or unattended, but again playtime is ideal.
