Connector too wide for phone cases

Cable too wide to connect to my iPhone with iPhone case. Most people seem to use cases and my thin case doesn't come very close to the connector. I've had this problem before and there are many cables that fit cases. There is no excuse for such a bad landing. A serious design flaw in my opinion.
