The chisels came with VERY coarse finish. I tried this on 3 leg sheaths which I glued together and couldn't get halfway through. So I polished them myself. Using a very flat surface I worked out my grit, 150, 220, 320, 600 by buffing the surfaces. And pages. And between points. And it worked! Instantly! The finish wasn't perfect, though. I could have spent more time making sure they lined up perfectly, but they worked! Please note that chisels cannot go through 3 layers of 7-8oz leather. Just too short. I had to use an awl to get to the other side and then from there.
