This is NOT a memory function like the original cable from Apple. The microphone is not connected to this cable. The iPhone only sees it as a SPEAKER cable. The sound from the microphone is NOT coming from the microphone on the headset. It's coming from the phone's microphone. I don't plan to return as it's too much trouble, it's useless to me. Tried it with two different headsets. An apple and a generic. Tried all 3 cables. The pictures show both headsets. The illustration shows the Apple cable next to the cable of this product. The whole reason I bought this was so I didn't have to plug and unplug an Apple cable to switch between them. It did not work.
