I have used e-collars for 5 years on two large dogs with medium to long hair. They are with me in the forest every day without a leash, and there are often deer there. I really need a shock option to be on the safe side. It was always difficult for me to stay in contact with fixed contacts. I've tried all sizes of prongs. Nothing was really satisfactory. This wire contact operates continuously and with very little shock loading (20). I can put it on my hand and there will be a slight shock, but it's enough to get dogs' attention. Now that they know the shock works, they respond better to the vibration mode. I need a little shock, maybe once every few days. I gave four stars because I haven't used it for a long time.
