Closures hanging around were bitten off in the first few minutes of wearing. Once you tighten the boot, the extra rope just dangles around, which ends up bothering the dog. I bought these as a preventive measure after having to remove 3 foxtails between my Mini Schnauzer's toes. The plastic clasp has a small spring inside and some small metal parts so I wouldn't leave it unattended. I removed the whole fancy part and now I just tape them over the foot with tape. You slip when you walk, but it's definitely better than getting hurt by another foxtail.
