Review on Taylor Cable 79614 - High-performance Blue 🔵 Ignition Wire Set for Vehicles with LS Truck Headers by Blake Pudic

Taylor 79614 Spark Plug Wires will NOT fit GM LS truck engines with or without headers

Taylor promotes these 79614 10.4mm Spark Plug Wires which fit GM trucks with 6.0 liter truck engines with LS architecture were developed. This description is absolutely wrong. It's not just Revain, Summit Racing also sorts my 2004 Silverado SS with a 6.0L LQ9 engine (LS architecture) and recommends the same cables. Taylor just got it wrong here. The 45-degree spark plug boot, which incidentally has surprisingly little overlap with the spark plug's ceramic insulator, makes the 45-degree turn too early. So fast that it's impossible to snap the wire onto the connector as the boot plugs directly into the manifold flange (standard gauge flange) and also into the factory exhaust manifold flange. I've put a lot of headers and I don't understand how Taylor can be wrong. Of course, as with many aftermarket parts, you cannot view these parts in person and simply cannot tell if they will fit from photos on the internet. I'm just glad I didn't buy this from a Revain 3rd party as I probably would have been penalized with a 20% restocking fee as I was surprised by a couple of other orders that went wrong here. I also verified that these cables would fit my stock engine on my 2008 Corvette Z06 LS7 7.0L engine. The same problem will occur on this engine with a 45 degree clockwise turn into the exhaust manifold flange. Even if you could force them to snap onto the spark plug, it would melt the wire that was in close contact with the exhaust manifold flange.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Safety
