Review on MidWest Homes Pets Scratching Extra Durable by Liz Garcia

DESTROYED BY CAT URINE. The post broke - fell apart - after only 2 months.

Do not install near water. Don't buy if your cats pee on things - this will damage the product and void the warranty. The base of the scratching post (structural element) is made of pressed cardboard (pressed recycled paper), which turns into a mush when wet or even damp. Cats pee on the bottom of the post, which then disintegrated and broke off. (Luckily none of the cats were harmed. The inside of the bottom of the perch, under a faux fur cover, is made from "pressed cardboard" - strips of recycled paper pressed together. When they got wet they softened and fell apart.) Bought this 2 months ago . $45 for 2 months usage is not a good price. Sad. :( Until it broke this post was great - the cats loved it (and obviously tagged it) and used it until it broke. Subject"One Year Warranty": called and said it probably would don't cover it because My cats pee on a pole. Okay. But cats often pee on things. The consumer expects a cat toy to withstand cat pee, as well as scratching and climbing. (It's akin to a child toy manufacturer's claim, for which they don't responsible is what happens when a child puts a toy in their mouth or does something else that children normally do.) The Mfr representative told me that I can send the photos with my product number and a copy of my receipt, and MAYBE me will do something for me - but they probably won't. It doesn't matter if I've already been told that cat pee basically voids the warranty (I mean who thought a cat would pee on a toy ? Except for most cat owners.)
