2300 hours on one engine and never flown with a checklist on his leg. Mainly because I've flown in the Indonesian jungle in northern Canada or flown with a flight instructor in a low-traffic area. I knew my frequencies and area from memory, knew the people on the other end of the radio, and could handle the checklist I kept in my side pocket. Anyway, my student pilot's first knee was one of those nasty foam-coated aluminum pads. I then began flying between and under numerous airspaces, along international borders, specific VFR reporting points, runway decals and multiple frequencies. A knee brace has become a necessity and the FlyBoy keeps everything in place. Pencil loops are the perfect size. It fits snugly and doesn't twist around the leg. As you plan, you can add pages of sideguard information and scroll from end to end. The only downside is you have to use their side guards and they are a bit pricey. The pattern of the holes on the protective film from the stationery store does not match exactly.
