Review on 🎧 Sennheiser Pro Audio HD 650: The Ultimate Open Back Professional Headphone by Sean Patel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The 650s are my signature sound signature. The best mid-range headphones, period.

What can I say about these headphones? These are the best banks for their price and quite frankly way above that. When you put them on for the first time, you'll be greeted with a heavy clip. To fix this I lengthened the piece of metal to accommodate the headband and folded it outwards. Metal can withstand this, so don't bend the plastic headband, it will break! The thick velor still gives some support as your ears will certainly come into contact with it, but as the cans are oval this shouldn't be too bad. are. It was fun and great and all, but it sounded so muted. I was disappointed from the start. From then on I just ran pink noise for about 20 hours to record them. Did it change the sound a lot? no But where it helped was that it brought out some detail and helped me get used to the sound faster. The biggest change to get used to in flashy headphones is that the clarity isn't straight and harsh, it's more present but not the star of the show. You hear almost all the details you need, but in the background the sound is much quieter and muffled. So all you have left is the vocals and god, they sound silky smooth. You can easily hear every word, and harsh high frequencies or poorly mastered tracks are answered with forgiveness. Basically, your music will sound good. Jazz sounds particularly good on them, as do the slower songs that suit his personality so well. Pair them with a good amp, I recommend Valhalla 2 for beginners or Ragnarok if you can afford it for solid state. Honestly, if you prefer a sound signature, this could be your bottom line. For me I was still unconvinced as I knew the comfort could be improved and I wanted more detail. I ruined a good cause by doing this. The rings that hold the pads to these cans are glued on, so I took the scissors and ripped them off. I replaced these banks with HD700 pads just to try it out. Comfort increased immediately, but bass content was much less (while bass quality improved, it was much faster and less blurry than with standard pads), detail and treble improved again, and to my surprise, the mids were slightly drowned out, but not much. This could probably be fixed with pipes. However, this pad change took away everything that made the 650s magical in the first place. They really change the sound, so I recommend going with standard velor or similar if you like the bass/warm mids that come with standard 650s. I certainly do, so I'll be buying them again (although overpriced, they're mostly velor stitched over memory foam that can be removed from the old packaging, $50 is too much for pads, but I think they should have added a cost equal to the sum they charge for that jar). So who is 650 for? If you can't afford $1,000 cans but want beautiful vocals and punchy bass (not insanely deep, but rich and heavy when you need it), then the 650 is definitely for you. It's very forgiving, so lossy files aren't a problem here, nor is poorly recorded music (which I think is a good thing, as it gives you time to build your higher-quality collection). I wouldn't recommend these headphones if you're looking for airiness, detail, or clarity. They are best reserved for 600s, 700s, or 800s. where is the update Prefazor LCD2 or LCD2-C or Atticus. They require powerful hybrid/SS amps for this, but they really are the best upgrade as their soundstage, mids and overall bass are better with a bit more clarity (not day and night). In summary, warm sound is not for analyzing your music. It's for relaxing during the day, enjoying texts, sipping coffee while writing. The details are fun, but I've finally found my favorite sound signature. Bright sound signatures will tire your ears after a while with all the detail and screaming harshness, so I think a warm sound will suit almost everyone unless you're in the camp of listening to every detail in your music would like . I'm just glad I listened to real warm cans and not just warm cans to really get a feel for the experience you're getting and it's just fun, relaxing, goosebumps from well recorded music. These things will love tubes! Get Mullards, Telefunken, Philips Milliwatts or Gold Pin 6NPC for extra warmth and less dryness. Pour that syrup!
