I recommend this for your dog for the summer

I recommend this for your dog for the summer. I have a shepherd mix that is so difficult to breathe that it makes the sound of an engine running. She doesn't like temperatures above 70 degrees, but I live in Dallas, so in the summer it's usually above 90 and below 100. The fumes, which create a cooling effect for the dog, work well here. This vest has helped my dog run a little longer than before and cools down faster afterwards. Without a vest, walking outdoors in 30 degrees would tire her in 15 minutes, but with a vest she could be relatively comfortable for 25 minutes. Back inside, instead of panting for 15 minutes, breathing was reduced to 10 minutes or less. I can feel the coolness of their fur underneath and the vest stays wet/active for over 30 minutes. If you soak it the full 3-5 minutes and don't get impatient, how long it stays moist makes a big difference. If it dries up, just splash some water on it from a fountain or similar to give you some extra time. The vest kinda curls to the side so I fixed it by attaching the flap to the body. Same goes for the front flap, it was too wide for my dog's chest so the velcro flap just dangled so I had to pin the end. Thanks to the safety pins, it stayed in place even when she tried to shake her body. So don't try to sew on buttons or fasteners, only pins that fit your dog. I think if you have a dog with large shoulders/chest it should fit. My dog is 60 pounds and has a classic body shape (not muscular, not slim/graceful, just a regular dog shape) and the medium size barely fits her ribs and is too big on the front of her chest.

Pros
  • Hands-free work
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
