There aren't many 11x17 all-in-one printer options out there, and they all have some flaws. I chose Brother, but the poor color quality and many annoying quirks made me regret the purchase. I bought this printer because I was missing my old HP 11x17 for sign and poster making and wanted to save paper with duplex printing. But the color intensity and accuracy are nowhere near as good as my previous and current HP printers. Worst of all, it takes 24 seconds to print a single page when set to duplex. It's not smart enough to know when a side isn't printed on the back, so it unnecessarily goes through the entire two-sided ink drying process. It starts showing low-ink messages when there is a lot of ink left and pushes up continuously. I printed over 100 more pages before I ran out of the starter black cartridge. I suspect they just want to sell more cartridges. When I download and print 11x17 paper, it says the wrong size is loaded, but if I ignore this message and continue, the print works fine. After two email exchanges and an hour on the phone with a tech, I was told that's how it works. Every time I change the paper size I have to set the size in the settings. My old HP knew what size was loaded.
