I drive a 2014 Ram 3500 that uses DEF. The other day I got an alert and when determining the code said there was a problem with the DEF conductivity (weak DEF in the tank). The service writer said I used cheap DEF (I didn't) and for only $1200 the tank was drained, flushed and refilled with "good" Mopar DEF. Told him he was full of poop and cleared the error code. . I used my new OTC refractometer to check the DEF in the tank and everything was fine. The dealer will now DO YOUR JOB and monitor the DEF monitoring system for parasitic voltages/faults. I wonder how many unsuspecting diesel truck owners whose engines require DEF fall into the $1200 drain and flush trap. Disgusting.
