Improved product. for heavy engine parts

After learning of the problems with the stock Ford oil pump, we replaced the oil pump on our 2006 5.4 F150 with a Melling M340HV while we were doing a valve train overhaul. Very satisfied. Tip: Lubricate the pump with petroleum jelly before installing. Prior to installation we lubricated the engine liberally with clean engine oil, but simply cranking the crankshaft was unable to build up oil pressure prior to lubrication. The oil pressure has risen successfully at startup.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Low repairability

So far so good: Heavy & Commercial Equipment

Perfect for my 2008 F150 with 5.4 liter Triton engine. The best way to primer -1. Run some oil through pump 2 before installing. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor to prevent the engine from starting3. Install a new oil filled oil filter just before starting the engine. Don't worry about spilling oil - most of it ends up in the oil pump.4. Crank the engine (no more than 30 seconds at a time) until the oil pressure rises. It took 10 seconds!5. Once pressure is built up, reconnect the…

MUST for 5.4 Triton 3 valve

I have a 2006 F250 that I needed to fit a new ATK reman into. Well 1 month before the 3 year warranty it died, the oil pressure dropped. So I found a YouTuber called Ford Tech Makuloco who explained and showed that Ford OEM oil pumps are only required to pump out 12-25psi, which is not enough for this engine and its cam phaser problems. This beauty pumps over 60 at idle and over 70 on throttle. I expect my new second motor combined with this oil pump will give me what I wanted the first time…

  • Easy setup

Follow Mellings' video on how to prime the pump.

Installed in my '08 Ford Expedition. within the full TPM. Melling has a video on youtube of filling these pumps. At 5.4, remove the oil filter and use a suction gun to squeeze the oil into the small hole at the 7 o'clock position. This directs the oil to the pump. I also poured oil into the pump before installing it. After installation I left the crankshaft sensor disabled and started the car for about 10 seconds. It took three of those starts in 10 seconds to get the oil pressure up, don't…

Great product, super fast shipping, 5 star deal

A component that really saves 3V. There is no lack of oil with this version. If you are doing timing work, PURCHASE A FORD FACTORY KIT (approx. $650.00). This is an 18 piece kit that includes UPDATED Phasers, Tensioners, Guides, Chains, Sprocket, Gaskets, Cover Gasket and Harmonic Balance Bolts. You can replace the no-sump oil pump, REPLACE WITH THIS PUMP, replace all 24 roller tappets with REVISED FORD FACTORY rocker arms (the new version drilled an oil hole to allow oil to coat the needle…

Two years on a 2008 4.6 liter Mustang GT

Turn this on by doing a full synch just to put your mind at ease. My 2008 Mustang GT has a 4.6 liter engine with all the phaser and oil pressure issues of its 5.4 liter cousin, although the GT seems to be a bit better and has a lot more engine clearance to work with. The car runs confidently, drives hard and at consistently high speeds (of course with other mods and tune) without any problems. You will need a flexible ratchet wrench to remove two bolts from the old pump's suction tube so you…

  • Decent performance

  • Very expensive

Printing problems solved - for now anyway

Installed on F150 Lariat 2004 4x4, 5.4, 3V (180,000 miles) at a time. The M340HV pump fits perfectly and solves all oil pressure problems! My engine has destroyed the chain guides and eaten 2 holes in the timing cover due to chain slap. There was a DISTRESS in there. So if your newt is knocking, don't be an idiot like me and procrastinate. This problem is only getting worse! I use Motorcraft 5W30 synthetic oil. At idle I get 70psi cold and 25psi hot. It also runs about 60psi down the road…

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Not everything fits

I mean holy cow, it starts and runs better, engine temp stays mid and there.

I replaced the entire timing kit (literally everything), oil pan, steering racks and added this oil pump on the advice of the Fordtecmmakuloco YouTube channel. This is a brand new engine with 160,000 miles and this pump. I mean holy cow, it starts and drives better, engine temp stays in the middle and there's an odd silence while the car is driving. Holy cow is all I have to say. This is for a 5.4 3v motor and I was considering getting the 360hv instead, after speaking to my boss (also an…
