I replaced the entire timing kit (literally everything), oil pan, steering racks and added this oil pump on the advice of the Fordtecmmakuloco YouTube channel. This is a brand new engine with 160,000 miles and this pump. I mean holy cow, it starts and drives better, engine temp stays in the middle and there's an odd silence while the car is driving. Holy cow is all I have to say. This is for a 5.4 3v motor and I was considering getting the 360hv instead, after speaking to my boss (also an aircraft mechanic) we both decided that more would suffice. And to be honest, I'm a believer. But do yourself a favor and watch these guys' YouTube videos for reference - it makes timing easier and the oil pump removal tips were invaluable - seriously. I worked with cars for many years and came to work. on test planes, but if you do this repair be prepared for a hard time with the horsepower pump. Oil pressure is rock solid, checked with my mechanical gauge and digitally in real time over a 2 hour ride that has never dropped below 5psi above factory specs. And for an extra $30 or $40 over an OEM replacement, it really is a no-brainer - stop researching and get on with the repair - after all, the original pump is at the root of all the VCT and timing issues.
