Fits almost perfectly in matching tank, almost. I bought an Aqueon aquarium about two years ago. It comes with a custom-fit, durable plastic case with a slightly textured finish. This interchangeable hood is made from a lighter, thinner material with a smooth finish. It has a bit of play in the fit where the original had a tight fit. The new lens hood is much more flexible and so light you'll see gaps where it doesn't lay completely flat on the aquarium. It's good, but not as good as the original. In my opinion, the only reason to buy this hood is the significantly brighter LED light. My original had condensation entering the light chamber which resulted in my light being destroyed in the time I had it. After purchasing it, I wish I could just cut the light box off my original and install an aftermarket kit. I kept my original hood so I can do this if I have problems with it. So far it is working perfectly after a month of use. I will say the light is significantly brighter than the original which is good especially if you have a salt water tank. Follow-up: The light lasted nine months before dying on me. Obviously the water droplets, the moisture, the mold on the underside of the hood were too strong for these lights. This should not be the case with fixtures for the aquarium. I would not recommend buying this hood/lights. I just can't take it.
