Another great option to spice up the kibble for my spoiled dachshunds!

This very finely ground powder makes a broth my dogs love! IT IS SO EASY! I'm always looking for ways to make dry dog food more interesting. On special occasions or when I'm lazy, Cรฉsar gives them wet food, otherwise they eat dry food. A lot of my old dog food reviews are about how fussy my late Papillon Gigi was, and I spent ages trying to get her to eat. (She would love something and then get fed up with it, or it would be discontinued and I would search again.) My current audience isn't that picky! In fact, Gilly once needed a "Slow Down Bowl" to stop him from eating her in what appeared to be a giant vacuum gulp. He was a loafer and it is clear that he lived a very hard life on the streets for a long time. He also put all the food he could in his mouth and then took it to a "safe" place to eat; Sometimes that place was on my bed. (Okay.) Two of my dachshunds get 1/2 scoop of dry dog food and then I have a few more options to spice it up. The first thing I tried was Himalayan Dog Chew Powder, which was a very, very fine powder made from yak milk, lime juice, and salt that was hardened into hard, rectangular chewable tablets and then ground into a powder. (By the way, the gummies themselves are awesome, read my review on them.) I dust the pieces with powder and mix, coating each piece in a fine dust. They seem to like the extra flavor, they lick the bowl. For everyone, especially Sophie, I'm not exaggerating my long haired black and tan "mini" dachshund who is a mutant and larger than the average corgi. She has gland problems or something because the poor girl is overweight and we can't figure out why, despite numerous tests, the diet (she sat on prescription dog food for a long time and there was nothing) and exercise; She gets the same as smaller dogs (my parents have two "classic" dogs like Jilly), but she's almost twice her size! I was distracted. (I digress a lot.) The next option, which I've been making the longest, is adding a small amount of a cholesterol-free, heart-healthy canola, soybean, and olive oil blend that's packed with omega-3 ALA. to her meal. I stir until it coats each piece and they love it. This gave them a beautiful, soft, shiny coat and relieved Sophie of dry skin and scales that made them itchy and frizzy; now she's silky and she looks less crazy. Finally, we come to this, FLAVOR, natural flavoring powder. I was concerned that the gang might not like it because they firmly and unanimously voted NO to Etta Says Brand Liver Flavoring Powder. It had a larger, scaly texture. It's a very, very fine powder, finer than the Himalayas. I add some water, stir and get a nice (rather thick) flavorful broth! One time when it was cold and snowing (in HOUSTON!), I warmed up their broth for a nice treat. They love the broth, they drink it before eating. It only takes a pinch of powder to make broth and this jar lasted us a long time, although I don't use it with every meal. The hinged lid opens the entire lid so I have to be careful when adding dashes. I don't bother measuring it with anything, although the lid is open enough, probably to be able to use a measuring spoon. As you can see, I love to diversify. I have been so happy with this FLAVOR powder that I have added it to my subscription plan every two months. (I might extend this to 3 months.) How do I know how much Gilly likes that and the oil? This guy who used to inhale food like it was the first and last meal he's ever seen is now PATIENTLY waiting for me to finish what I'm doing to her. When it's time for dinner he's with me and Princess Sophie is waiting royally to be served. I pour Gill's food into his bowl, he *sniffs* it and then walks AWAY until I stir the butter or cook the broth! He's actually coming, oh wait, this meal isn't ready yet, I'll wait!
