Review on Sauder 414289 Beginnings End Table by Shannon Myers

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Numb fingers.

You will need a hammer (preferably with a rubber cap) and a screwdriver for assembly. For $15 I expected five stars because it's so cheap you can't fret if it's not the best quality. But this time I couldn't give a five. The final product (when you assembled it) is really good. But I had some problems with it lol. So I'm a housewife and I renovate and build here. I've gotten really good at it, I can't tell you how many Ikea items I've collected. The instructions were clear enough and I guess they included a few extra details just in case. I had trouble with a few parts putting this together. The first were "hidden plugs and screws". They are made in such a way that they have to be screwed in at an angle. You must have the perfect screwdriver for this and I'm glad I did. It's difficult and frustrating, but it's possible and I did it. You need to get it and the perfect angle and make sure the edges of the screw fit perfectly. If you get it right and start tightening, you won't be able to make a full turn without losing your grip and clipping the metal. It also requires a lot of pressure to keep bolt stripping to a minimum. The deeper the screw is screwed in, the easier it is to tighten, but the screw will slowly strip out. When I finished all four, I had a few metal stains on the floor. The second problem was that I had a lot of holes that were supposed to match in the tree but didn't. Some screws will try to go in askew. In addition, when screwing the legs to the table top, the screwdriver must lie horizontally on the underside of the table top. This means the handle is touching the wood, making it impossible to get a good grip to tighten the screws. I couldn't fully tighten them because the holes didn't line up properly. I couldn't push because I couldn't control myself. I really hope this isn't confusing and I'll explain it well. Overall it's so cheap and looks good. It's thin so I tend to use it for an accent table. You really can't beat how much it costs. If you're good with packing and have the patience for it, this will work for you. It took me about an hour and a half to complete. I think that's a lot for such a small piece of furniture. My husband would have given up if hidden connections had come into play. I hope my review is helpful!
