I took it with me on a cruise. Suitable for walking to the beach or walking around town. Small, light and strong, it "stretches" to fit quite a bit. Holds 2 towels, some paperbacks, baseball caps and a 24 oz bottle inside. Plus additional outside compartments for stuff. A water bottle (like a 24-ounce steel bottle) fits in the outer mesh pocket but won't grab it. If you stuff too much in, it may slip out. It's easier to fill in. Mesh pockets for sunscreen and those masks when you take them off. The straps are not padded but are wide enough and comfortable for any weight you wish to load. In general, I wouldn't go for heavy stuff like textbooks. The only snag: the zip on the small outer/upper compartment always wants to reach into the small flap and close itself.
