This is definitely a brutal chair. I'm taller and heavier than average so finding a safe place is almost impossible. I agree with the other posters but that he sits too far back and only puts him one step further than them. From regular pool noodles, cut a 3.25" section on each side, you will need to trim it to fit. but it fits perfectly. I then wrapped the cut outs with a layer of Gorilla Tape. This keeps them in place so they don't pop out, and still allows the chair to be folded and put back in the bag as normal. With that little addition, this is now the chair I take everywhere in the summer.
