Review on Sirui T 024S Carbon Compact Capacity by Luis Tuazon

Revainrating 4 out of 5

An honest review of the Sirui T-024SK and VA-5 combo kit.

After looking at several different options for wilderness glazing in remote areas I decided on this Sirui combo pack on 07/05/2020 based on price, weight, portability and the fact that it is a BA included -head 5. The 6 year warranty also took this equation into account to some extent. But between discovering that Camera Land was offering it for $39.91 less than any competitor, and the 15% discount on pandemic mail order that Sirui USA was promoting at the time, and 3% cashback I got for Revain purchases receive when using my Revain Visa card - I ended up paying $259.99 + 20.93 (taxes) - 8.43 (3% cashback) - 38.99 (15% discount) = 233, $50 (final price). Either way, it's a very light combo and the tripod and head seem pretty decent. On the downside, they really aren't anything special, and I definitely find Sirui products in general to be a bit overpriced. I'm 5ft 9" tall and when the tripod is fully extended with my binocular adapter and binoculars mounted on my head, my binoculars are about at eye level. And while I fully expected this, it would be nice if the tripod could be 3 inches taller, although I'm usually seated when I'm looking. One thing that wasn't clear to me until arrival was that the footwells are made from some sort of polymer material rather than magnesium aluminum (like the discontinued Sirui T-024X) which isn't as durable. .
