Works as described. Tested the voice activated mode and found that it starts recording when sound (voice) is detected and stops recording a second or two after the sound ends and goes back to standby until another sound is detected . TEST: Stop 5 minutes after recognizing the initial (sound) voice, come back and start again with a different sound (voice). Stopped the recorder, checked the recording and confirmed the recording stopped between tones as expected. The continuous recording mode records continuously as expected. Haven't done long voice activation or continuous recording, but so far it meets my needs. Easily picks up sound (voice) at a distance of 15-20 feet. Audio playback quality is fairly clear, but some gain adjustment (+) may be needed when post-processing the audio file (WAV) to hear better over longer distances. continuous but easy to follow, exactly as advertised, and stays in selected mode until changed again by external line control. A simple switch on the device to switch between recording modes (voice and continuous) would be much more intuitive. *** Don't lose manual or external line control as you need it to use and control the device. Great multifunction device. Can be used as a portable phone charger, Recorder and MP3 player for music (over 600 songs downloaded from my playlist) that can be played directly from the device using the line keys and the included headphones. * MP3 shuffle mode in music mode would be a great addition to the product as it only plays the music files in sequential order as it is currently designed. The strong built-in magnet holds the device securely to metal surfaces. The headphones offer a fairly decent quality. as it suits my needs.
