Works pretty well, but watch out for the on-times!

I bought this recorder to replace a Sony unit that I have used for many years. Sony had proprietary audio extraction software that no longer works with the Windows operating system. This unit records directly in *.wav or *.MP3 format. And that's great. The sound quality is excellent. There are even several "modes" that adjust the input sensitivity for different recording situations (e.g. conference calls, dictation, etc.). It's also easy to use. Feels like it should work fine.

From the packaging I thought I had something high quality, I did some testing and it works as it should, looks solid, simple. A week later I hooked up my lapel mic to it and couldn't get it to record, found it required a TRS connector, not TRRS which is fine, I bought an adapter. When I first used it, I recorded important information for an hour and constantly checked the recording with a sound level meter. Later I tried to connect it to my computer but I couldn't turn it on. Not bad overall, this thing holds its own weight well

While this recorder is affordable compared to some scaling options, it can actually work very well. Of course, the mics aren't that good, but they seem to be the same or better than those found on a flagship phone. I'd say "better than" since the microphone's omnidirectional ability seems to work better than using a phone, and you can set the recording format to a fairly high value to prevent compression.
