Review on Digital Voice Recorder Lectures Meetings by David Roberts

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works pretty well, but watch out for the on-times!

I bought this recorder to replace a Sony unit that I have used for many years. Sony had proprietary audio extraction software that no longer works with the Windows operating system. This unit records directly in *.wav or *.MP3 format. And that's great. The sound quality is excellent. There are even several "modes" that adjust the input sensitivity for different recording situations (e.g. conference calls, dictation, etc.). It's also easy to use. One problem I ran into is when you want to start recording. It is NOT instant. You may need to wait a few seconds after turning on the device to start recording. This means it would be a poor choice if you want to capture children or birds etc. Because when the recording starts, the sound you want may have disappeared! I don't know why they designed the recorder that way. Looks like an initialization problem. It takes some time for the recorder software to start working. I've emailed the manufacturer to see if there's a way to fix the problem, but haven't received a response. I assume the issue is known - you can see it has been mentioned in other reviews. For my purposes, that's fine. You can't beat the price for quality and everything else. Just remember that recording doesn't start right away. Turn it on well before you need to record something, e.g. B. a conference call and it works fine.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • You could have chosen a newer model
