Review on CamelBak Octane Hydration Black Atomic by Jimmy Koroye

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The perfect multi-purpose hydration pack.

This is my choice for running 10+ miles, hiking, biking etc. I've had three types of camels and this is by far the most versatile. As described in the description, you can pack a lot. On long days, I fill my bladder completely (after you fill it with water, remember to turn the bag upside down and suck all the air out of your bladder to get that "squishy, squeezing" sound while running to avoid 👍) and pack my poncho, some protein bars, energy gels, salt sticks, my headlamp, mini first aid kit, change of underwear (hey, who knows), extra socks, smartphone (I put my phone in one of those mesh pockets strap tucked into front shoulder) TP/baby wipes, my pepper spray and solar battery. It seems like a heavy burden for the runner, but to be honest the weight is evenly distributed on my back. An added bonus is the ease with which you can tighten or loosen the straps as you run. That's important to me because I'm trying to get those PRs. In terms of fit and height, I'm 6'0", 195-200, with muscular shoulders and a chest of about 38". I weight train a lot, so I think you can compare me to one of those farm boys who make hay every morning and have biscuits and gravy for breakfast. I have no issues with the fit and honestly I feel like there is still more room to expand (maybe up to the 275lb mark?). All my stuff stays dry inside. There are several compartments inside that are divided. So if you need to keep your soggy underwear away from your clean, dry stuff, you can. I also run a lot at night. There are nice reflections on the back and front loops on the shoulder straps. There is also an additional waterproof front pocket, which is very handy! This is where I keep my energy gels, salt sticks, and pepper spray for easy access. I love this camel bread and I am sure you will all love it!
