Read reviews about poor sound quality. Decided to take a chance. Maybe people just expected too much from 45 years of technology after listening to digital music for the past 30 years. Gave it to my daughter as a Christmas present. she loved it. We plugged it into the wall and tried using an external microphone. Terrible hum or hum. So I put batteries in it and it got a lot better. It sounded like simple noise/interference on power lines. I felt things could improve if I added a filter or two. Luckily I had a few in my trash can. See photo. I connected the power adapter cable and the external microphone cable about 3 or 4 times. Plugged it in and Presto Magic, it worked great. Too bad Jensen wasn't smart enough to include those $1 items. I'm sure this will prevent a number of complaints.
