The only reason our cat is alive

Our 6 month old kitten was identified as an indoor/outdoor cat who ran through doors when we cried and walked in windows and smashed screens all day. We finally let him out and a week later he was hit by a car. He had a broken hip but healed well and was lucky to be alive but was still keen to leave. We tried a long leash and harness but it was difficult to untangle him in the garden without constant supervision. Then we discovered this fence. Took half a day to bury it properly and hang it along our large garden (I recommend putting it on top of the perimeter fence so the cat gets a shock just trying to climb). It also took many 1-2 hour trips to teach the cat the new barrier. One day he came out electrocuted and ran to the other side of the wire to get away so he couldn't come back without being electrocuted again. We followed him closely for several weeks, but it was worth it. Now he is happy in the garden. We can leave it at home all day even when we are at work. We'll bring him in at night and take the collar off. Sometimes he goes out without a collar, but he never leaves the yard. In the end, we expect to give it up completely. Batteries wear out quickly, but that's a small price to pay for a system that actually works if you take the time to implement it gradually. Highly recommended!

Pros
  • A low battery indicator will remind you when a battery change is needed
Cons
  • I don't remember
