Excellent stool (4.5 stars). Inexpensive and very functional design. I read many reviews on various step stools and bought this one with some skepticism about durability and crushing hazard. But I was pleasantly surprised after almost a year of use. The foldable design is very good and helps save space when not in use. And frankly, pinching your fingers is very difficult for an adult, or even a baby. We were nervous, but we will continue to be careful. A small personal note is that when folded it does not stand on its own and needs to be supported by a wall. Also, in this position, if the balance is easily upset because someone accidentally touches it, it may fall down. iRobot has been hitting the stool so many times that now we don't get scared every time it falls off. The following tips may help: If you need a step stool and don't have a toddler/mobile child at home, this stool is a no-brainer. If you have a baby in your house, you need to teach him how to use a stool well so as not to hurt his fingers. We had a couple of toddlers visiting and they loved to sit and use it on their own. If you have an active child in the house, this chair is still useful for sitting and playing, bathing and feeding the child. Just make sure you keep the chair out of the child's reach after each use. After all, it's designed for light home use, not hard work. With that in mind, I think the stool should serve you well for many years to come. As for our usage, we've been happy so far.
