Poor Quality Assurance

This coffee table was almost impossible to assemble as the top and bottom screw holes were offset vertically by about a quarter of an inch. There was also glue in one of the screw holes that I had to scrape out with a knife. I finally reassembled the table after about two hours of struggle, but now I have a quarter inch gaps between the bottom slots of the table with legs and the bottom of the table. After initially attaching the legs to the tabletop, I had to go back and remove all the top screws, screw in the bottom screw, screw the top screws back in, and tighten each one a little bit while the wood creaked and cracked under the stress. I'm surprised nothing broke. In addition, the table top is not completely flat. After assembly, I noticed a slight bulge along the short edge of the upper. I checked it with a ruler and found that the top was also deformed by about a quarter of an inch. Also, once assembled, the dimensions of this coffee table are not ideal, as the table is too tall for a standard sofa, and its top when unfolded is about the middle of a normal-sized person's chest. Too high for comfortable eating from the table. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is that the lift mechanism works well. However, the factory that produces the wooden parts obviously has very poor (or no) quality assurance. The numerous quality issues with this table are particularly frustrating given the $329 price tag. Ridiculous!
