Design flaws but nice dim warm light.

I had to return these but only because one was damaged. I had to use them and they worked great. What I like is the 1W low-level warm white light, which puts out about the same amount of light as a 12W warm white incandescent lamp or an 8W bright white incandescent lamp. They are covered with lots of scattered white bulbs, making them easier to look at directly. I use it in a fixture with a down reflector and at the right angle I can only see the top of the lamp. This way I have a very good minimal light pollution system with enough light to safely follow in my footsteps. I was able to replace my massive transformer that I used with my old AC incandescent bulbs with a tiny 2 amp DC power adapter. The old transformer hummed from the sheer amount of electricity. My ten-year-old garden lights had massive 12-gauge wiring to handle the current, but decades had corroded them where the lamp terminal connections let water through and they could no longer handle the high currents of incandescent bulbs. But with the new lower current it still had good conductivity to light the yard well. The one that broke showed a flaw in its design. The bayonet mounted bottom cap simply slides onto the socket on top of the lamp. It looks like they could come loose and fall apart if your bulbs are stuck in the socket tightly. I could also see that the body connector wire was not even soldered to the body but was pinched by this press fit. This is negligent because it leaves a gap for water or moisture to slowly seep into the electronics over time. As such, they're fairly cheaply made, and you'll need to take care of them as you insert and remove them after years of corrosion has kept the socket and bulb in place. An AC transformer means removing any power spikes on city power lines or strong inductive transients when the lights go out. I've found that my old lighting system has a tendency to kill LED bulbs due to electrical transients. So I would recommend replacing your power supply if you have an older AC garden lighting system. I would have given that 3 stars because of the design flaws, but the seller accepted my return because of the broken one with no complaints. They came in individual packaging so the seller was clearly trying to buy them well. I also notice that many sellers tend to exaggerate the warmth of their light, but it's actually a warm white.
