Review on πŸ–₯️ WDX Grommet Hole Desk USB 3 Port Hub BC 1.2 USB Charger with SD/TF Card Reader for iPhone/Smart Phones (Includes AC Power Supply) by Matt Chirila

USB is a hit. The SD reader is hit or missed.

TL;DRG For USB 3.0 ports and charging function. The SD card reader hit or missed. Do not connect through another hub, connect directly to USB 3.0 on the motherboard. Using a 2-3/8" or 2-1/2" hole saw, install with tape around bushing until snug. Use case (and warning): I basically took it so I didn't have to reach for my case every time. I wanted to use the USB 3.0 port, and that's the goal. I can use all three ports at the same time (see photo for speed reference when writing to a flash drive: single and triple). I wouldn't recommend using this by connecting through a different USB hub. I haven't read anything about USB 3.0 lately, but USB didn't have daisy chaining capability back then and this might be an issue some people are having. I use a USB 3.0 male to female extension cable to connect directly to the rear ports on the mobo and everything works great (most of the time). USB/SD: I haven't had any issues with USB ports and flash drives, but plugging in a micro or standard SD card is a godsend. Using an SD card reader directly on the USB port works fine, so the SD card function doesn't always work. (That wasn't the main reason for buying it anyway.) Power supply: It uses a 5V/2A power adapter and charges my phone or headphones perfectly. Not sure if it delivers 2A per port but then again I didn't buy it for fast charging, it's just a nice addition. The hub also works without a power supply connected. It even charges something without an AC adapter, and you can connect at least one device. I haven't tried booting it with no power connected. Installation: I didn't have a 2-3/8" crown (and we have a lot of crowns). 1/2" hole saw and tape wrapped around hub about 15 times until snug, but I can still easily dislodge everything get table. The downside to this is that I can't easily remove the jack part from the jack, but I don't see a reason to do so in my use case. (Although I can still remove it, it's just not that practical in this case.) Overall: I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs USB 3.0 within reach. Wouldn't recommend it to those who want it primarily as an SD card reader. In addition, easy access to the charging ports.
