Review on FREEWELL Freewell Handheld Split Kaleidoscope by Russ Freeman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Incredibly high-quality split diopter

Everything here is very high quality, right down to the housing. The cover is a soft case made of imitation leather. There are many cushions in the case, easy to protect your filter. One little detail I love is that the Freewell includes a built in cleaning cloth sewn right into the case. The filter has a nice metal ring. The workmanship was there and the carving was perfect. It screwed on and off my lens with no problems. Half of the filter section is glass and fairly thick thick glass which contributes to some really interesting distortion. In the last picture of this review, I simply put the diopter on my smartphone (this filter is obviously intended for use with a regular camera lens) and got a very interesting effect. Screwing this onto a standard camera lens allows you to rotate the diopter slightly to change the range of distortion. I should also mention that it moves very smoothly when rotated, so you don't have to worry about actually unscrewing the filter itself. The movement has a muted quality. Everything I have received from Freewell over the past year has been exceptional. In my opinion, they position themselves at the top of the list of filter companies. Now when I need a filter for my camera I go to Freewell first because they offer a quality that rivals the likes of Polar Pro but the price of their products is at amateur level. To sum up, if you need a split diopter screw then I would say that Freewell's is the best you can get. This split diopter lens lets you create incredibly creative portraits.
