I make dozens of masks at home. There weren't enough pens. My old needles (same brand) go through 2 layers of quilted fabric and elastic together with no problem. The new needles go through the layers so hard that I have to use a thimble to avoid injuring my fingers. They also tend to warp and bend in the process. With difficulty it goes through only two layers of fabric, but not evenly. I've found that only about 1 in 10 contacts works well. I suspect they're just not sharp enough. Usually a quality brand that I've been using for decades. I don't know what happened to them.
