Got this for our new kitten but not as safe as I would like. It took 20 minutes from unpacking to complete assembly. The materials are decent. But even for our 3 month old kitten the middle shelf is very narrow. In combination with actively chasing the toy, there is a recipe for falling, which means it should not be on a hard surface. In addition, the top is a flexible elastic coating. Our kitten almost fell twice because he wasn't supporting. If she didn't have claws, she would fall. We ended up removing the top completely and placing the top cover in the small cabinet. It still works most of the time and the scratching posts are industry standard, but the top tier isn't strong enough.
