Review on HORI Nintendo Switch HORIPAD Wired Controller (Red) - Officially Licensed by Nintendo by Shalom Germann

Best substitute for the real store.

Not yet wireless and not as rugged or ergonomic as official Switch Pro controllers. These are controllers that offer excellent value for money. I break controllers very often (including official ones) and have bought this controller several times. I find I get reasonable, if not impressive, lifespan from them and have never had any issues with stick drift or button sticking, at least up to a few months of use. It may seem negative, but to me it's all pluses. The turbo function should not be underestimated either. This can be very handy in other types of games like PokeMon and is very easy to understand and use. Other controllers don't have this feature at all. The D-Pad is a bit clunky, but it's still decent enough responsive. The detachable D-Pad is a really useful feature. You can save the typical 4-way design pad on the back of the controller and it will be converted to a 4-button layout similar to the regular buttons. I've never had to use the button version, but I like that it can be customized. I don't have many cons. The grips could be more comfortable and maybe have a rubber or textured backing for better grip. But that's not too bad. If you're prone to sweaty hands, this controller can be a bit tricky to use. But that's not a big disadvantage either. This controller also works easily with Steam and even emulators, making it even a good choice for any PC or retro game.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Upgradable
