Review on Samsung ECR K10AWEGSTA Full Keyboard Galaxy by Brandon Barrett

An upgrade you'll never need

I love my Galaxy Tab. It has replaced my laptop for the vast majority of tasks. I only take my laptop with me for really hard work, like recording music or writing. Thanks to this keyboard, I can now cross the list of things I use my laptop for. The Samsung Galaxy Tab keyboard is a great addition to the Galaxy Tab and I use it a lot. This enables blogging in combination with the WordPress application. It also makes writing long emails and snippets like this review much easier. However, its usefulness goes beyond writing. I really love the keyboard. On my computer, I use keyboard shortcuts and launchers to navigate without frequently touching the mouse. Android is a very keyboard-friendly operating system and everything can be navigated using the keyboard. There are keyboard shortcuts for search, the home screen, recent items, and more. I have found that interacting with the Galaxy Tab using the keyboard has greatly increased my productivity and enjoyment of using the device. It also allowed me to use my terminal program effectively, and playing with BASH on my tablet was fantastic. The keyboard has an error and an omission. The omission is the lack of additional ports. I would expect USB host support, maybe an HDMI output or some other extras. Being able to plug in an external hard drive or maybe a mouse and monitor would be incredible, and not having at least USB host support seems like a huge mistake. The downside, in my opinion, is actually very bad. There is a bug somewhere in the Galaxy Tab's software that causes Bluetooth audio to pass through when using the keyboard. I am using bluetooth headphones and am very frustrated with this error. I have reported this to Samsung and hope they fix it quickly. Overall, the Galaxy Tab keyboard is a great addition to the Tab. Much better than first meets the eye. And if you're a Cyboarder or Linux nerd like me, you'll get a lot out of it. Just watch out for the Bluetooth bug; It's a bummer.
