good fit, fake pl2303 usb programming cable

bought the first unit two years ago - it still works FB after two seasons in the stinking sweltering sun of my station wagon, the cheap 2m magnetic mount survived shorty. but I deduct one star because of the fake USB programming cable pl2303; Luckily any FTDI cable with RX (tip), TX (sleeve) and GND will work to program this setup via CHIRP and I had a spare cable recognized in GNU/Linux as Prolific with serial number '0' became. indicates that it is a fake! However, since Linux will run if the other OS crashes, you can use a wireless programming cable - this won't work with Winblows or OS Xi. Four preferred VHF frequencies are displayed: two local repeaters, a local NOAA WX, and a marine VHF call frequency so I can hear bridge tenders and other marine traffic. Transmission power on VHF is as advertised: 10 watts low ('L' on display) and 25-6 watts high ('H' on display) uses the rig for rag chewing and radio controls and some local networks ; it works, it's small and draws only 4 amps when transmitting high power - works great via the cigarette lighter under the center console armrest, no problem programming the device with CHIRP; I can copy frequency lists from other rigs like the FT-897 or FT-818 and paste them into that rig's image file and upload. I'm glad I have two now - one will be installed in the garage so I can connect to a local repeater. from a short antenna from a workbench. well suited for hurricane watching here in the near tropics. recommended if you are on a budget but want value for money.
