No Portable Audio and Video Warranty

I purchased an extended warranty on this radio. It dies under the purchase warranty and the company doesn't honor its own warranty, and the extended warranty purchased from Revain doesn't cover anything until the original one has expired. I liked the radio but one day I pushed the button and nothing worked. I think it's $80 to throw away. Buy from Radio Oddity to get support!

nice and compact well suited for radios

Nice and compact mobile transceiver. I like that the device is tiny. The sound from the speaker is loud and clear. Sounds great on UHF and VHF. The display is nice and bright, you can change the colors. This transceiver comes with a programming cable, it works with windows 10 and the free chirp software supports this transceiver. This radio is easy to program. Great transceiver for the price.

Has some disadvantages.

The radio works well despite its limited power and I've had good audio signals through the repeater for over 30 miles. The main disadvantage, however, is that the display can hardly be seen in daylight. I've tried all the color combinations on the display, but it just isn't bright enough. The menu is very easy to navigate and has many nice features, notably the one button control between 4 frequencies. It may be okay if you can set it low in a shaded area, but somewhere near a light source orโ€ฆ

The instructions aren't the best.

Great little mobile radio. Good reports of sending to a repeater at 59 miles on VHF 25 watts. The downside is the instructions. Blurred at best. Use the chirp program and I highly recommend watching some YouTube videos on this radio. The only reason I bought it is the price and I already had a QYT 980 Plus with the frequencies in my computer files. And I had to use the QYT 8900 program on Chirp to program the QYT 980 Plus from scratch. Overall a good starter setup but there is a learning curve.

Programmable with CHIRP! Very compact design. Loud noise!

Excellent compact mobile radio for beginners. Very clear display despite the small size. Loud noise. Excellent microphone. Many control options. CHIRP is programmable and includes a USB programming cable. Good programmable color selection for the display. Manual programming is a bit difficult to master, but doable. The instruction manual leaves a lot to be desired (check out the YouTube video instead) and the right rubber grip is easy to remove - you'll need some silicone to see if it's holding

He does what they say he would do for "well, less " $100!

Radio works properly. Transmission performance exceeds specifications. In terms of durability, the rubber/plastic used for the knobs came off almost immediately and you have to be careful when turning the knobs. Look at the picture, the handle belongs to the metal bar to the right of the radio. Receivers are working FB and all voice messages are 59. On the simplex I am heard and heard five miles away and I push and push the repeater almost 15 miles but the antenna is almost 30 feet up. However,

good fit, fake pl2303 usb programming cable

bought the first unit two years ago - it still works FB after two seasons in the stinking sweltering sun of my station wagon, the cheap 2m magnetic mount survived shorty. but I deduct one star because of the fake USB programming cable pl2303; Luckily any FTDI cable with RX (tip), TX (sleeve) and GND will work to program this setup via CHIRP and I had a spare cable recognized in GNU/Linux as Prolific with serial number '0' became. indicates that it is a fake! However, since Linux will run if the

Maybe I didn't pay enough attention

It's small and the display is colorful. I'm not entirely sure about the usefulness of "quad hours". It just doesn't seem very useful. I hit every repeater in my area with my diamond shop. Slightly less useful with the smaller 1185 tram, but people have said I'm fine with it. I really liked the on/off switch. However, I did find the rubber pads on the controls a bit loose. I bet they will eventually fall off. Cons: The sound felt a bit muddy - even compared to my other cheap ones. It's possibleโ€ฆ

Maybe you have a used device.

The radio was shipped in retail packaging with a shipping label attached and the valves were unsealed. I'm surprised it came at all. When I opened it up and looked around, I found that a screw (or tap) had broken in one of the mounting holes on the side of the radio. I had to return it at the time, but wanted to see how well it worked, so I plugged in the charging cable and tried programming it with my default CHIRP file. I couldn't get CHIRP to download the image from the radio so I downloaded

Great radio for the price. Great feature I've never seen before.

For the money spent this is a great little radio. It's a bit tricky to code, but there are good guides on YouTube to help you with it. When programming the fanouts for the repeaters from the front of the unit it's important to remember to program all the tones at the same time at the receive frequency... What confused me was that even with the correct offset I couldn't hit the amplifiers. Some research has shown that you MUST set the transmit frequency as well by going back to the VFO, dialingโ€ฆ
