Maybe you have a used device.

The radio was shipped in retail packaging with a shipping label attached and the valves were unsealed. I'm surprised it came at all. When I opened it up and looked around, I found that a screw (or tap) had broken in one of the mounting holes on the side of the radio. I had to return it at the time, but wanted to see how well it worked, so I plugged in the charging cable and tried programming it with my default CHIRP file. I couldn't get CHIRP to download the image from the radio so I downloaded the factory software but it also wouldn't communicate with the radio. This is NOT an issue with the programming cable as CHIRP will detect the radio but the radio will not enter clone mode. I tried CHIRP again and for some reason it finally connected and I was able to upload my CHIRP file through my local relays. The problem is that I couldn't get (or hear) any response from a nearby repeater, which I found with no problem on my Yaesu FT-7900. The repeater answered, but I couldn't hear the answer on QYT radio. When the repeater automatically broadcast its station ID, it barely broke the squelch, but all I could hear was hiss. The noise reduction settings seem to have little to no effect. After all day trying to get it to work I gave up and sent it back. I'd really like to find one of those small form factor dual band radios that work, but they all seem like giant crap and are hard to program, so I'll probably just buy another Yaesu.
