Review on πŸ“» QYT KT-8900D: Compact Dual Band Car Radio Mobile Transceiver with VHF UHF and Mini Design by Darrin Parasson

Maybe I didn't pay enough attention

It's small and the display is colorful. I'm not entirely sure about the usefulness of "quad hours". It just doesn't seem very useful. I hit every repeater in my area with my diamond shop. Slightly less useful with the smaller 1185 tram, but people have said I'm fine with it. I really liked the on/off switch. However, I did find the rubber pads on the controls a bit loose. I bet they will eventually fall off. Cons: The sound felt a bit muddy - even compared to my other cheap ones. It's possible I could make adjustments, but I didn't take the time to look at the menu. Also, it sounded like the squelch stayed open after I let go of the key. In addition, I picked up more noise than my KT-8900R. I probably ended up deciding I had too many radios and giving it back. The overall quality seemed good. It probably deserves someone to spend more time on it than I was willing to

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
