I bought this Transcend flash drive for work. I need multiple software packages and drivers for the different applications I support. This brand of flash drives was highly recommended to me, so I bought them (first time with this brand). The thing was awesome, the write and read speeds were pretty fast, it fit perfectly in my pocket while I was working. Even if the disk is 80% loaded, no slowness. After using this flash drive for about four months, something strange started to happen. Once when I tried to get some drivers from a floppy disk at the office, my flash drive was not recognized on several computers where I tried to install those drivers. Luckily my colleague had the necessary drivers and was able to install them from his portable SSD. The next day is almost the same. This time it recognized my drive but then froze the computer until I ejected the drive while my co-workers' drive had no problems. I returned home and ran some tests on my computers, the results are the same. I called Transcend Support and we went through several troubleshooting steps and nothing we did allowed us to see the drive. Long story short, I shipped the drive and three weeks later I had a new drive straight from the factory. I called them as soon as I got my new drive to ask what they found after addressing this issue on their website and they said they couldn't find the root cause. Needless to say I am disappointed that it broke after four months of use. I have a couple of $10-$20 Scandisk drives that I have owned for over 5 years and have never had a problem. Keep in mind that I don't use them like this Transcend drive, but still. Now that I have a new drive I'm still not 100% sure about the product. All I can say is make sure you keep a master copy of this disk somewhere and keep it up to date (which I did). This rule should really apply to all data, always have backups so that in such a case you have a backup of all your data to fall back on. I'm not sure if this was a random occurrence with my first drive or what the problem was, but I'll update if something happens here too. The reviews for this drive are great and I was surprised it happened but nonetheless it was my experience and I just wanted to share it. Hope this helps someone.
