. I'm all for chemical-free drying and have been using balls to dry wool for a long time. I recently tried the seventh generation chemical-free dryer sheet, but I still buy dryer balls. I prefer static electricity to the sweet smell of some dryer sheets on my clothes. I don't usually get static electricity when using balls of yarn unless I have microfiber towels in my laundry mix. The great thing about these balls of yarn is that I can use them over and over again. FYI, if you'd like to add a little scent to your laundry, simply add a drop or two of your favorite essential oil directly to the ball of yarn. These balls of wool loosen up the laundry and shorten the drying time. Now, when you add these three balls of yarn to a small load, you cut your drying time by 40%. If you have a large load, you will need to add four to six balls of yarn. This reduces the drying time by 25%. This will of course shorten the time depending on what you have in the dryer. If you have jeans, not so fast. Towels and sheets, yes. These balls are hypoallergenic and can withstand up to 1000 impacts. I haven't swapped mine yet. When I use these balls of yarn, I don't get too many wrinkles either. Fluff builds up on these balls of wool over time. They are harmless but can be removed with a cloth razor. Balls of yarn can be washed by placing them in a sock with the laundry. I only wash them when I drop them on the floor or when a dog grabs them.
