They work well, but don't try to save money and don't change them often.
I finally found filters that fit my Norpro compost bin. These are two-piece filters filled with activated charcoal that fit into the lid. The thicker square element goes in first and the round filter fits second (closest to the inside of the bucket). two months. Fruit still attracts fruit flies, and very wet waste will mold if you don't empty the bucket very often. My recommendation is to stock up - they're cheap; change them often; and most importantly, DO NOT leave waste in this container for more than 24-36 hours. With these caveats, it is recommended.
