After reading many negative reviews about Logitech's joysticks and HOTAS setups, I decided to just go ahead and give the entry-level X52 a try. I'm very glad I did! It's a great starter space sim kit (Elite Dangerous is all I use it for at the moment), with just the right amount of buttons and switches in all the logical places, and very good ergonomics in every way. Build quality is decent, it's almost all plastic, but the grips are rubberized and very stubborn. The bases are a little light and the suction cups work well just to keep them in place, but for me that's by no means a deal breaker. None of the buttons or other inputs have problems, everything works right away, great. I can't confirm the Logitech software because I only use it in the Elite, which has very good developer presets. Again straight out of the box. All in all I couldn't be much happier. We'll see how the quality holds up after a few months of regular use, but you get what you pay for, right? I knew I wasn't going to get a Warthog or VKB but for a few hundred dollars less this is an excellent first dive into the world of HOTAS.
