The product is sold without a threaded connection pipe. I'll explain this observation after pointing out that they should sell! The missing piece is a tube with a half-inch thread on each end down to a narrow "joint" section in the middle (either smooth or able to take a hex). Ideally this pipe should be 4 to 5 inches long with a constant thread diameter, so just tap the ends and screw into the wall and adjust as needed. Much too long? All you have to do is cut the ends of the tubes with a saw or dremel. That would be a nice, elegant solution. Installation time averages less than 15 minutes with the right tools. So what's the problem here? Well Lowes, Home Depot etc. don't sell constant outside and inside diameter (threaded) threaded tubing. Because the thread has to "bite" at a certain point and seal properly. You can then rotate the tube, maybe half a turn, to join the metal strands and form a seal. But unfortunately we don't want that here. In our case, adaptability is required. So after I won at Lowes/Home Depot/Ace Hardware, I went to specialty plumbing stores. No fun! A completely useless and expensive waste of time. I ended up going to a friend with a professional lathe to cut threads on a piece of pipe for me. Installation time 2 days. I have purchased many Delta plumbing products over the years and have always come to the conclusion that Delta hates DIYers. The item itself is decent enough, but insanely expensive due to rogue metal and a cheap plastic seal.
