The radio does not recognize the presence of batteries - alkaline or nickel metal hydride - and therefore does not work without AC power. Returned the first, received another - the same condition was. Tried reset, different brands of AA batteries etc. Nothing helped. Also, when inserting fresh (fully charged) Energizer NiMH batteries, the low battery icon would appear on the on-screen display. Plugging in the power adapter and switching to charging mode indicates that charging started but stopped after a few seconds. So there is no way to charge the batteries in the radio. I called the manufacturer. Tech rep for help and he confirmed that some radios had this condition but could not offer a solution. He did not offer a replacement radio. Revain has a great return policy so I could always go back and re-order until I got a working one. With so much quality and customer service, what would motivate me to try again? How long will it run? Buy something else and avoid the headache!
