Review on Stainless Steel Replacement Globe For Wire Mesh Camp Lantern by Matt Norwood

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Absolutely Worthless in the Wind!

After replacing glass globes off and on for over 25 years on Coleman lanterns, I was excited to see a mesh alternative. I was extremely excited and thought this would be a fantastic solution to what seemed like a broken globe with each camping trip.I installed the mesh globe (which had to be bent slightly to fit the lantern) and it lit up perfect at home. When I put it to use at the campsite it caused the lantern to be of no value. Every time the wind would blow the slightest it would extinguish one of the mantels and it would be free-flowing propane. It would be such free flowing propane that it actually damaged the mantels as they are not designed to take that much flow without a flame to burn the gas.Unless you are using this in a place where there

Pros
  • Ideal for camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities
Cons
  • May obstruct some of the light from reaching certain spaces
