This carrier fits my 8 and 12 pound cats. I think the smaller size made them feel more secure when going to the vet. If you have a cat that has claws and is struggling to get into a carrier I wouldn't buy this. The middle part consists of easily tearable foam. With my 12 kilos. Boy did I make sure my hand was down when carrying it because I don't trust zippers with all that weight, but I'm pretty careful when it comes to my cats. From 8lb. you could safely hold the weight.
