I made the mistake of viewing some of my favorite pictures on our son's iMac which has a 1440p screen like this. The photos looked so good that I wanted to update them. I don't like Apple's sky high prices so I bought this monitor after reading many reviews and specs for similar models. This monitor works spectacularly and the stand is nice and solid. You must ensure that your graphics card supports 2560 x 1440 resolution and that a DVI port is available on your computer. The monitor has HDMI and Displayport inputs, but they can/probably cannot display resolutions higher than 1080p due to specification limitations for these types of connections. I use a monitor with multiple computers, one on DVI and the other on HDMI. I use HDMI at 1080p and a USB switch to switch keyboard and mouse between two computers. I haven't used the calibration software, but I have set up the monitor so the images look exactly how I like them and go well with high quality prints. You should probably calibrate if you want a perfect print match, but you're dependent on a print service unless you do it yourself. I'm very happy.
