I think I would prefer a black cylinder over a chrome cylinder. I used this cylinder to raise an existing office chair to counter height. I'm a tall person and had to elevate my desk to avoid scratching my feet on the middle drawer and to be able to keep my feet at my preferred ergonomic angle when seated. This cylinder gave my office chair an increased pull height, making it much easier to get in and out of.
